Students Play Lacrosse in P.E. Class

With temperatures reaching the upper eighties this week, the McGlynn Middle School took to the turf at Hormel Stadium for lacrosse.

Mrs. Hoarty, Mr. Dyer, and Mr. Glionna took advantage of the warm weather and had the physical education classes practice the fundamentals. The first week students worked on passing, shooting, and catching and for some students it was their first time using a lacrosse stick.

In future classes students will progress into small-sided games.

Please do not go to the expense of purchasing too much too soon. Many students purchase unnecessary items, for example: calculators, multiple notebooks, etc. Please disregard signs that suggest generically, “If you are in this grade, you need this.” These lists are not from the school department. Our intent is that $15.00 should cover these needs. The students may be asked to purchase supplies at the cost of no more than $5.00 – $10.00 during September.

Supply List for SY 2015-2016:

– Either a 2” Nylon Zip Notebook (not a trapper) or 2″ Binder (preference of grade 7 teams) or 3″ Binder (preference of grade 6 teams)

– 1 3-hole pouch to hold pens & pencils

– 3 No. 2 pencils

– 2 black ink pens, preferably fine point

– 1 highlighter (preferably yellow)

– 1 subject dividers (one pack of five)

– 2 8½ x 11-pocket folders

If you see very inexpensive single subject notebooks, pick up a couple (many stores sell them for as little as 10/$1.00.

2015-16 Bus Routes

Current transportation/bus routes are posted below. THERE HAVE BEEN SOME CHANGES – PLEASE REVIEW CAREFULLY!

  1. Please be 10 minutes early to your morning pickup location. Buses tend to run a little behind the first days of school and will settle into a timely routine in 2-3 weeks.
  2. Afternoon runs tend to run behind as well the first 2-3 weeks.
  3. Be respectful of the personal property that abuts the bus stop.
  4. No “boom boxes” will be allowed on the buses.
  5. If transporting musical instruments on the bus, check with the driver as to where they should be placed. Space is tight as each bus has a large number of riders.
  6. Bus riders in grades kindergarten through second grade must be met by a parent/guardian/or designated other. If not, they will be returned to school and must be picked up there.
  7. Bus riders in grades kindergarten through second grade will be provided (at school) a bus tag that must remain on their backpack for the duration of the school year.
  8. Please see your school’s handbook for bus riding rules.
